You can use this business function to make beneficial enhancements to your existing portfolio of functions in the maintenance, repair and overhaul process:

  • Maintenance Program Definition

The Maintenance Program Definition (MPD) component supports you in adhering to ever-changing safety regulations and maintenance requirements.

  • Configuration Control

The Configuration Control has been enhanced to support equipment BOM items (non-serialized parts) and has four new modes for changing the actual configuration

  • Maintenance Event Builder

The Maintenance Event Builder (MEB) provides an intuitive, easy-to-use way of managing the planning of maintenance revisions that represent individual work packages.

  • Logbook

Logbook is an easy-to-use tool that supports the controlling and execution of line maintenance tasks for assets in operation.

  • Hierarchical Task List

Maintenance work of complex technical objects includes many tasks and operations that are structured hierarchically. Maintenance work of complex technical objects includes many tasks and operations that are structured hierarchically. You can create hierarchical task lists by referencing other hierarchy task lists or task lists.

Features

The functions below have been enhanced as follows:

Maintenance Program Definition

Maintenance Program Definition is a new function that supports you in adhering to ever-changing safety regulations and maintenance requirements. To this end, MPD allows you to:

  • Collect and maintain data for keeping your maintenance plans compliant

  • Find and link corresponding technical objects to this collected data

  • Mass maintain maintenance plans for the technical objects

  • Monitor the maintenance progress

For more information, see Maintenance Program Definition .

Configuration Control

Configuration Control has the following enhancements:

The Configuration Control Workbench now supports non-serialized parts. The actual configuration can now be composed of functional locations, equipment and equipment BOM items (non-serialized parts). The equipment BOMs must be plant-independent. If you have activated the equipment BOM function, the function identifier field/column is displayed in equipment BOM maintenance transactions (IB01, IB02, IB03). You can use the following new modes for changing the actual configuration

  • Dismantle equipment with simultaneous goods movement

  • Install equipment without simultaneous goods movement

  • Install non-serialized materials with simultaneous goods movement

  • Dismantle non-serialized material with simultaneous goods movement

The names of the following existing modes have changed as follows:

  • Removing material from storage without updating hierarchy is now called Goods movement out of stock without PM integration

  • Placing material in storage without updating hierarchy is now called Goods movement into stock without PM integration

After a technical object (equipment or functional location) has been deleted during archiving, all subordinate structure gaps will also be deleted.

For more information, see Configuration Control .

Maintenance Event Builder

Maintenance Event Builder has the following enhancements:

Within the planning board the capacities of work centers are now shown in a graphical way.A new planning tree for displaying the capacity view of a planning board is available:

  • You can select between the old planning board and the new ALV tree.

  • A new ALV planning tree is provided for the capacity chart from the planning board. If you select the option of new planning tree, then it is displayed in the MEB application. The new ALV tree replaces the planning board view.

For more information, see Maintenance Event Builder .

Logbook

Logbook has the following enhancements:

  • ALV grid enhancements in component list

    • Storage location and plant

You can enter the details of the storage location and plant in the ALV grid rather than branching to Change Maintenance Order (transaction IW32) . The storage location entered is validated against the plant and the material. You must enter a storage location when you post a component.

    • Special stock indicator

In the ALV grid, you can assign a special stock indicator to a component. In the materials management process, special stock types are used for different business scenarios, for example, customer aircraft maintenance and consignment stock usages. Fields like WBS Element, Sales Order Number and Vendor Account Number are also linked with the special stock type. These fields are displayed in the ALV grid if you have assigned a special stock indicator is assigned to a component. The type of special stock indicator determines whether you can edit the respective field in the ALV grid.

    • Option to add and/or modify customer-specific fields

You can add and/or modify customer-specific fields in the same way as the other fields in the ALV grid. The values mentioned in the customer-specific fields are stored in the database.

  • Toggle between display and change mode

You can change the processing mode of the logbook application from Display to Change and vice versa for all the application objects at the same time.

  • Display warranty details of technical object in a log notification

You can view the master warranty details of a technical object attached to the log notification at any time while processing the defect.

  • Collective search help for revision

You can search an appropriate revision for a log notification using the following search helps:

    • Revision by technical object

    • Revision by work center

    • Revision by selection screen.

  • Archiving within Logbook

In the maintenance and repair overhaul (MRO) business many PM/CS notifications and orders are created daily which can affect system performance over time. To improve this, you can archive the notifications and orders. The archived notifications and orders can be handled within Logbook.

For more information, see Logbook .

Hierarchical Task List

Hierarchical Task List has the following enhancements:

  • You can implement your own logic for archiving an HTL. However, these implementations work on top of the standard logic provided and does not replace the standard functionality.

  • You can perform the following checks for a standard task list (TL):

    • Check if the TL is used in another HTL

    • Check if the TL is used in maintenance plan definition documents

  • For HTL, the following checks are implemented:

    • Check for usage of HTL in maintenance plan

    • Check for usage of HTL in notifications

    • Check for usage of HTL in maintenance plan definition documents

    • Check for usage of HTL in another HTL
