Maintaining Classes and Characteristics in
CDP
In SAP APO, you can maintain classes and characteristics that you need for characteristics-dependent planning (CDP).

The class type for CDP classes is 400.
If SAP APO is linked with SAP R/3, transfer the classes
and characteristics from the SAP R/3 to SAP APO using the APO Core
Interface (CIF). Complete this initial transfer before creating CDP
classes and characteristics in SAP APO. Determine the scope of the data to be
transferred in the integration model in the SAP R/3, in an organizational
area. For more information
on the integration model, see
Generating Integration Models.
For more information on what you should note when transferring classes and characteristics from the SAP R/3 to SAP APO, see Integration of Classes and Characteristics.
Define in SAP APO Customizing that you are working with the CDP classification system. You can make these settings in Customizing in SAP APO under Advanced Planning and Optimization → Master Data →Classification and Configuration → Define Configuration Relevance (CDP or Variant Configuration).
You maintain classes and characteristics in CDP in the same way as in SAP R/3. However, some functions and features are not available in CDP.
These are:
