Backward
Scheduling
For optimization of the objective function values, the system schedules activities as early as possible. Under certain circumstances, activities are scheduled far from the requirements date/time, and this increases storage costs. In backward scheduling, which the system can execute after optimization, the system tries to schedule the activities to dates/times that are as close as possible to the requirements date/time in question. Starting from the requirements date/time in each case, the system searches backward for the next possible scheduling date/time and reschedules the activities.
If you want the system to execute backward scheduling during optimization, you must make the following settings in the optimization profile or when calling optimization:
· Set the Backward Scheduling indicator on the Basic Settings tab page
· On the Additional Strategies tab page, you define whether, in backward scheduling, the system is allowed to increase the makespan achieved during optimization.
