Use

In the settings for the conversion of Supply Network Planning (SNP) or Capable-to-Match (CTM) orders into Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) orders, you can specify how PP/DS determines the sources of supply for PP/DS orders. You have the following options:

·        PP/DS uses automatic source determination in PP/DS.

·        PP/DS determines the source of supply from the SNP/CTM order being converted.

Features

Automatic Source Determination in PP/DS

If you do not set the Use SNP Sources of Supply indicator in the heuristic settings, PP/DS determines the source of supply (PPM plan, iPPE access object, runtime object, transportation lane, or external procurement relationship) for a PP/DS order independently of SNP or CTM. The following factors are crucial for the source of supply selection:

·        The procurement quantity of the PP/DS order that PP/DS determined before using the procurement quantity calculation

·        The procurement type defined in the location product master and the procurement priority

If PP/DS does not determine a valid source of supply for the procurement quantity, PP/DS can only create the PP/DS order if you have set this in the planning version. PP/DS then creates a planned order without a source of supply.

Determining the source of supply from the SNP/CTM order

If you set the Use SNP Sources of Supply indicator in the heuristic settings, SNP or CTM specifies the source of supply that PP/DS should use. If you want to use this option for in-house production, you have to plan in PP/DS using PPMs.

·        In external procurement, PP/DS uses the transportation lane from the SNP/CTM order.

·        For in-house production, PP/DS determines the PP/DS PPM as follows:

¡        If CTM has created a planned order with a PP/DS PPM, PP/DS uses the same PP/DS PPM for the PP/DS planned order.

¡        If SNP or CTM has created a planned order with a manually created SNP PPM, PP/DS uses the PP/DS PPM that you entered manually in this SNP PPM. In the PP/DS PPM there can be various modes for an operation. When scheduling the PP/DS order, PP/DS selects the modes automatically according to priority and date/time.

¡        If SNP or CTM has created a planned order with an automatically generated SNP PPM, PP/DS uses the PP/DS PPM from which you generated the SNP PPM.

Note

The plan of a PP/DS PPM can allow various mode combinations. In the PP/DS plan, for example, you can define that an activity can be performed on the resources A or B, while the subsequent activity can be performed on the resources C and D. This example contains the mode combinations AC, AD, BC, and BD for the successive activities. You can use automatic PPM generation to generate an SNP PPM for each possible mode combination in the plan of a PP/DS PPM. SNP can choose from these SNP PPMs in source determination. For the conversion of an SNP planned order into a PP/DS planned order, PP/DS uses the PP/DS PPM with the relevant mode combination. Therefore, the SNP/CTM order not only specifies the source of supply here, but also the mode selection.

PP/DS then determines the procurement quantities of the PP/DS orders and creates the orders using the source of supply specified by SNP/CTM. However, PP/DS can only use this source of supply if it is valid for the procurement quantity determined by PP/DS. Reconcile the PP/DS PPMs and the SNP PPMs accordingly.
