Function documentation Transfer of Characteristic Requirements to Stock Transfer Documents  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

In the case of stock transfers, SAP APO can transfer the characteristic requirements of the demand to stock transport requisitions or stock transport orders, in order to ensure that characteristic requirements are available for planning across plants.

If you have not activated this function, the system in the supplying plant uses the characteristic valuations from the stock transfer document as requirements. This may mean that existing receipts are not used to their full capacity.

Example

A stock transport order for the material CABLE has a valuation of 1000 m in the receiving plant for the characteristic LENGTH and requirements of 900-1100 m. If the aforementioned function is not activated, the stock transport order in the supplying plant would have a valuation of 1000 m and requirements of 1000 m. Consequently, the system could not use existing receipts, for example, of 900 m, for this stock transport order.

Prerequisites

·        You have activated the function in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization under Supply Chain Planning Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) Global Settings Transfer Characteristic Requirements to Stock Transfer Doc.

·        In Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization, under Master Data Classification and Configuration Define Configuration Relevance (CDP or Variant Configuration), you have defined the products as relevant for Characteristic-Dependent Planning (CDP).

Features

When the system creates a stock transfer document automatically in SAP APO, it copies the requirements of the pegged requirement to the stock transfer document. When you create a stock transfer document manually in SAP APO, you can also enter requirements for the characteristic valuation. The system then assigns the stock transfer document to one or more requirements using automatically fixed pegging relationships.

If you decide at a later date to supply a planned order using a stock transfer, you can enter the requirements after changing the supply source. If the planned order is already linked to requirements by automatically or manually fixed pegging relationships, the system receives these pegging relationships and determines the requirements as follows:

·        If all requirements of the demand are identical, the system copies the requirements to the planned order (stock transfer document).

·        If the requirements of the demand differ, the system does not copy the requirements.

Note

You can use the MODIFY method in the /SAPAPO/DM_PO_CHANGE BAdI to adjust the requirements in accordance with your own logic.

You cannot change the characteristic valuations and requirements of a stock transfer document. To receive a stock transfer document with the required characteristic valuations and requirements, the system has to delete the stock transfer document and create a new one. This also means that the system cannot adjust the requirements in the stock transfer document if the requirements of the pegged requirement change (for example, as a result of changes to the sales order).

Ensure that the system executes planning with an adjusted net requirements calculation after each change to the demand or stock situation.

Note

If this net requirements calculation is not executed immediately, the dynamic pegging in the liveCache may produce an incorrect result.

This process is supported by multilevel planning and the following heuristics, among others: SAP_PP_002, SAP_MOP_001 or SAP_LEN_001.

The adjusted net requirements calculation proceeds as follows:

       1.      The system checks if the stock transfer document is already PP-firmed, that is to say, no longer changeable. This affects how the system will react:

¡        If the stock transfer document is not yet PP-firmed, the system deletes the fixed pegging relationships.

¡        If the stock transfer document is already PP-firmed, fixed pegging relationships cannot be deleted. If the requirements of the pegged requirement do not match the requirements of the stock transfer document, the system issues one of the following warnings in the planning log:

§         Requirements of stock transfer document and demand do not match (/SAPAPO/STOWC 001)

§         Requirements of demand and stock transfer document are not identical (/SAPAPO/STWOC 003)

       2.      The net requirements calculation attempts to assign all open demand to suitable stock transfer documents. The system also compares the requirements of the pegged requirement with the valuations and requirements in the stock transfer document. Demand and stock transfer document can be assigned to each other if the requirements in the stock transfer document are either identical or more restrictive than the requirements of the demand.

Example

The demand contains the following requirements for the LENGTH characteristic (in meters): '1000-2000'.

If the requirements of the stock transfer document for the characteristic are ‘1100-1900’, the system can assign the stock transfer document to the demand.

If the requirements of the stock transfer document for the characteristic are ‘1100-2100’, the system cannot assign the stock transfer document to the demand.

The system links the demand and the stock transfer document using an automatically fixed pegging relationship.

Note

You can use the SAP_PP_STOWC heuristic to restore characteristic requirements to stock transfer documents and restore pegging relationships between the pegged requirement and the stock transfer document.
