Function documentation Reuse Mode for the Products in a Planning Package  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Products can be grouped into planning packages. To plan a product in a package, the system calls the product heuristic or another procurement planning heuristic. The reuse mode (RMode) for planning results from the following formula (see also Determination of the Reuse Mode):

RMode =

[RMode of MRP heuristic] o [RModes of procurement planning heuristics]]

o [RModes of planning file]

The system therefore determines a reuse mode from the various possible reuse modes for the products in the planning file ([RModes of planning file]). To do so, the system uses the matrix for determining the reuse mode. In the case of a package for a supersession chain, the products in a supersession chain can have various product heuristics and thus various reuse modes ([RModes of procurement planning heuristics]). The system also determines a reuse mode in this case using the matrix.

Note

The MRP heuristic automatically groups products, which do not belong to planning packages, into packages at the start of the MRP run. The creation of packages helps improve performance. The grouping criteria for these dynamic packages are the same low-level codes, the same product heuristic, and the same reuse mode in the planning file.

With the matrix, the reuse mode for planning a product in a package results from the reuse mode in the planning file, the reuse mode of the product heuristic, and the reuse mode in the MRP heuristic.
