Definition

You use class types to group together classes with the same attributes and functions.

Use

Characteristics-dependent planning (CDP) and block planning in SAP APO use classes of class type 400. This class type does not exist in the ERP system. Classes of class type 400 are generated when integrating classes of class type 300 (configuration) and 023 (batch classification) from the ERP system.

Overview of Class Types in the ERP System and SAP APO

Class Type 300

Class Type 230

Transferred from the ERP system

Use for batch classification

Created in SAP APO when transferring the class type 023

Class type 023 is not used in SAP APO.

In contrast to the ERP system, only versions (batches in SAP APO) and no products are classified in class type 230.

Note

If a configuration and a batch classification are transferred for a material from the ERP system to SAP APO, the characteristics from class of class type 023 and 300 are relevant for SAP APO. Both classes should contain identical APO-relevant characteristics (see SAP Note 526883).
