You can use this business function to allow employees with multiple personnel assignments to maintain personal data for more than one of those personnel assignments at the same time. They can do this with the Employee Self-Service (ESS) application. Employees can maintain all aspects of their personnel assignments with a single user.

Example Example

If an employee has two personnel assignments with your organization, he or she can log on to the portal with one user and maintain data for both assignments. In the Bank Details application, the employee can create, change, and display bank details specific to each personnel assignment and bank details that are relevant for all assignments. This data is displayed in the Personal Information area.

This business function also allows you to prevent employees from accessing certain services in ESS, and to adapt country-specific roles to your specific requirements. It is valid for all countries for which SAP provides a concurrent employment solution.

Features

  • With this function, you can speed up the maintenance of personal data, as the employee only has to log on once to maintain all data. The employee does not have to access the details for his or her different personnel assignments with separate user names and passwords.

  • It reduces inconsistencies in an employee's personal data, eliminates double-data entry, and allows employees to compare data, since it is possible to display data that is valid for all personnel assignments, and data that is specific to a single personnel assignment on one screen.   • Creating a country-specific role in Employee Self-Service allows your employees to access only applications that are specific to that role. To adapt the roles to suit your employees' needs and make country-specific services more accessible to them, you can perform Customizing on the roles you create. For more information, see Customize Global Employment Roles

  • You can make a service, such as Leave Request, unavailable to an employee for a personnel assignment that has been terminated. This reduces errors in personal data maintenance by ensuring that the employee cannot access this service, or change any data in the service once the assignment has been set to Withdrawn.

  • You can also prevent employees from accessing services based on your chosen criteria, for example, if the employee's personnel assignment is inactive. It allows you the flexibility to restrict employee access to a service, depending on your requirements. For more information, see Prevent Access to Services
