Define Characteristic Requirements
You can also transfer selection criteria you specified for batch selection for the sales order item in the ERP system to the SAP APO system. The SAP APO system stores the selection criteria as characteristic requirements for CDP.
You can also define characteristics propagation for logical components in SAP APO when defining the characteristics propagation in PPM plans. If you are defining characteristic requirements in SAP APO, you must ensure that the characteristics in the ERP system have been created as batch selection characteristics in a class of class type 023. The values can then be integrated in the ERP system.
You can specify either an interval or several single values for characteristic requirements.
· If you are defining characteristic requirements for a product, the system will take these into account during pegging. If you have not defined requirements for characteristics, the system will not take these into account during pegging.
· If you have not defined characteristic requirements for a logical component, the system uses the entries specified for evaluating the PPM plan.
· If you have not specified evaluations or requirements for a logical component, the system uses the location-specification configuration from the product master for product variants during pegging. Changes made to the characteristic value assignment in the product master are also updated in the liveCache.
· If you have specified evaluations/requirements for two nodes, the characteristic value assignment specified for one of the nodes must lie within the value range that was specified as the requirement for the other node.

See SAP Note 526883 if you are using characteristic requirements and problems occur when optimizing production planning.
In the PPM plan, you have defined a characteristics propagation for an output product.

1. Choose the Requirements tab page in the characteristics propagation of the PPM plan.
2. If the system is to copy the characteristic values from the configuration, mark the Set Requirement indicator.
During pegging, the system only takes into account those characteristics for which the indicator was set.
You have the following options for defining requirements:
¡ You can calculate the requirements using a macro (see Create Macro Report).
¡ You can specify fixed values for the characteristic requirement using Standard Reqmt.
3. Confirm your entries and continue processing the PPM plan.
