Function documentation Selection Rule for the Product View  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Using the selection rule for the product view, you can group selection criteria and therefore control the reading of requirement, stock and receipt elements in the charts Elements, Periods, Quantity, Stock and Pegging Overview in the product view.

You can use the selection rule to improve the layout of the charts in the product view and to hide elements that you do not need. If you want to carry out planning for a certain period, you can limit the period that is displayed by defining a selection interval.

Prerequisites

If you want to work with a selection rule you must first define it in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for the Order View. To do this, choose mySAP SCM Advanced Planning and Optimization Supply Chain Planning Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) Order View Define Selection Rules for Product View.

Features

In a selection rule, you define how requirement, stock and receipt elements are imported into the product view, on the basis of the selection criteria Excluded Categories and Selection Interval.

To make the product view clearer, you can exclude certain categories from the display. Excluding categories affects the Available Quantity, which is displayed on the Elements, Periods, and Quantity tab pages. The calculation of the days' supply, displayed on the Periods tab page, is also affected.

In the selection interval, you can define whether or not you want to define the interval with a start date and end date.

Note

For display, the selection interval that is calculated from the IMG or that you have entered manually is always converted into the Universal Time Coordinated time zone.

You also stipulate whether the interval should be defined in the application or in the IMG. If you define the selection interval in the application, enter a start date and an end date. To delete your entries, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Delete Interval.

If you define the selection interval in the IMG, define the interval relative to today's date, with an offset.

If you want to work with selection rules and you have already defined them in the IMG you can set the Selection rule active indicator and select a rule when you start the product view. If necessary, you can then manually define the selection interval.

In the user settings (This graphic is explained in the accompanying text), on the Orders tab page, you can define whether a selection rule is active for each user and which selection rules you want to work with as standard.  These can either be selection rules defined by you or default rules supplied as standard by SAP.

SAP delivers the following three selection rules as standard: SAP001 SAP Only Receipts, SAP002 SAP Requirements and Stocks, and SAP003 Without Planned Independent Reqmts.

In the product view, you can activate and deactivate the selection rule by choosing This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Activate Selection Rule or This graphic is explained in the accompanying textDeactivate Selection Rule.

Using the hotspot Selection Rule, you can go directly to the IMG from the application, to view the selection rules that are currently active.

If you change to the product view from the product overview, the selection rule that you defined in your user settings is automatically active.

You should note that the selection rule does not have any affect on alerts and pegging information. In other words, days’ supplies that you have defined in the alert profile are not affected by the selection rules.
