Set Parameters in PPM Plans
You can change certain parameters in PPM plans, depending on the configuration using macros (mapping). This corresponds to changing the field values using reference characteristics in the R/3 system.
You can also change the following parameters in SAP APO:
· Consumption parameters for logical components
You can assign several alternative products to a logical component. These have one variable and one fixed consumption parameter. You can overwrite consumption parameters using a macro, depending on the characteristic value assignment at the logical component.
During the plan explosion, the macro will calculate the parameters based on the current evaluation.

The unit of measure specified for the product is valid for the consumption parameters for alternative products.
· Parameters for duration and capacity consumption
The activity is assigned modes and a primary resource in the PPM plan. The modes contain parameters for the duration; the primary resource contains parameter for the relevant capacity consumption.

· The system always overwrites parameters that refer to the mode duration using the seconds unit.
· Parameters for resource consumption refer to the unit maintained at the resource.
· Parameters for resource consumptions are not recommended for single-activity resources. The system adjusts the time-continuous consumption for a multi-activity resource. You should not use the parameters used for overriding for multimixed resources as these use time-continuous and bucket consumption. The characteristics propagation can override only one of these parameters. Here the system will adjust the time-continuous consumption. The time-continuous consumption will not exceed the bucket consumption. The system adjusts the bucket consumption for single-mixed resources. In this case, you should also adjust the mode duration.
· Parameters for activity scrap in percent
· Sequence number for operations
You have assigned classes in characteristics propagation to the components on the next highest level of the PPM plan.
You have defined a macro that sets the parameter (see Create Macro Report).
Wä...
1. Choose the details for a classified element of the PPM plan on the overview screen for the characteristics propagation.
2. Choose the Parameters tab.
3. You can specify the following, depending on the elements of the PPM plan:
¡ For logical components, the system lists the alternative products to which you can assign macros that override the consumption parameters.
¡ For activities, the system lists the activity modes to which you can assign macros that override the parameters for the duration or capacity consumption. You can change the parameter for scrap at the activity.
¡ You can specify a macro for operations that overwrites the sequencing at the operation.
4. Specify the macro report.
5. Double-click on the Macro field.
The Mapping – Define Parameters dialog box appears.
6. Set the Macros Frm Report indicator and enter the name of the report.
7. Define which characteristics are to be used by the macro via the Use Characteristics indicator.
8. Define for which plan parameters the macro sets the values via the Set Plan Parameters indicator.
In the Relationship w/ column, define how the macro is to change the value from the PPM plan as the parameter value specified in the PPM plan is not available in the macro.
9. To return to the characteristics propagation, choose Continue.
