Business Function Documentation
The documentation of the new or enhanced applications in the enhancement packages is heavily oriented on the content of the business functions. This applies for the system documentation and the SAP Library.
SAP Library
In the SAP Library, the documentation of the business functions consists of two areas: The description of the business functions themselves and the related application documentation.
Description of the business functions themselves
This gives you a first overview of which new functions SAP offers with the enhancement packages. It is an introduction to the more detailed documentation and helps you to decide whether to use the business functions.
Related application documentation
In most cases, there is extensive application documentation in addition to the description of the business function.
You can access the description of the business functions that are delivered with the enhancement packages as follows:
See SAP Help Portal (help.sap.com) under . All business functions are described there. Using the links to the application documentation contained in the documentation of the business functions, you can get detailed information about the content of the business functions.
In transaction SFW5 in your ABAP-based system, use the links to the description of the individual business functions. With these links, you can call up the description of the business functions in the SAP Help Portal. You can execute all links to further documentation.
Note
The originals of business functions can be in different software layers. For example, there are business functions that are in SAP NetWeaver, in the Business Suite layer, or in the application layer. For technical reasons, for example, when you call up the description of a business function that is in SAP NetWeaver, only those business functions that are also in SAP NetWeaver are displayed in the structure in the SAP Help Portal. If you call up a business function of the application itself (for example, SAP ERP), all business functions listed in SFW5 are displayed in the structure of the description.
For information about the contents of the business functions, see the SAP Library connected to your ABAP-based system. You install this using the business functions on your server. In doing so, you only update those parts of your SAP Library that contain information about the new developments in a business function. You can therefore update your SAP Library dependent on the parts of the software you have installed and activated. This means that your SAP Library reflects the level of the software that you have installed and use.
Note
For information about the installation of the SAP Library in the context of the enhancement packages, see the documentation DVD that is part of the software delivery (the "Readme" text) or SAP Note 1066110.
If you call up the SAP Library on your server, you can get information about all business functions, but you can only execute the links to further application documentation if you have installed the corresponding application documentation for the business function.
This means that if links do not work here, this is not an error. Instead this is a result of the fact that these links reference to application documentation that describes the content of a specific business function and you have not installed this business function since you do not use it.
