Use

In production and process order processing there are a number of ways in which you can create manufacturing orders. You should manage production and process orders in SAP R/3.

In SAP R/3, you carry out all changes relevant to planning, such as changes to routing data, BOM data, quantities and dates. These changes are transferred to SAP APO.

Note

When you change manufacturing orders in SAP APO, you should note the following constraints which do not apply in SAP R/3.

§         Date or quantities changes may only be made until the order is released.

§         Structural changes to operations are not possible.

§         It is only possible to add components from SAP APO 3.1.

Features

You can create manufacturing orders in one of the following ways:

·        Manual creation of production orders in SAP R/3 without source of supply for in-house production in SAP APO

·        Manual creation of production orders in SAP R/3 with source of supply for in-house production in SAP APO

·        Planned order conversion from SAP APO

·        Conversion of APO planned orders in SAP R/3

Manual creation of production orders in SAP R/3 without source of supply for in-house production in SAP APO

If you only carry out detailed scheduling in SAP APO then you can use this process.

In this process, the production order is transferred to SAP APO, along with all data that is relevant for planning (in other words, without production process model (PPM) or production data structure (PDS). In SAP R/3, operations that are not APO-relevant may also be present, unlike in SAP APO.

As a prerequisite for this process, all necessary resources for APO-relevant operations must be available in SAP APO as master data. The transfer of the components of the order to SAP APO is not necessary for detailed scheduling.

Material requirements planning on plant level takes place in SAP R/3.

If you want to plan components in SAP APO these products must be APO-relevant. For this sort of product, the components of the production order are transferred from SAP R/3 to SAP APO.

All planning-relevant changes in SAP R/3 are automatically transferred to SAP APO and vice versa. If a phantom assembly exists it is also transferred and copied to the order as not relevant for pegging.

Note

You can also use this process if the production order is required as a receipt element for Supply Network Planning (SNP) or Capable-to-Match (CTM) scenarios and you have not implemented PP/DS planning.

In this case you should transfer the order finish date from the MRP view to SAP APO and not the scheduled end date of the production order as you would do in the standard process.

You can implement the transfer of the order finish date using the enhancement CIFORD02 (Customer Exits EXIT_SAPLCOVA_001 and EXIT_SAPLCORD_004) For more information see the SAP Note 514847 – Transferring Basic Dates Instead of Scheduled Dates to APO.

Manual creation of production orders in SAP R/3 with source of supply for in-house production in SAP APO

In this process, planning is carried out in Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS).

Because data in the production order can be changed as soon as it is created, data is merged in SAP APO. First of all, the production order is created in SAP APO with the relevant source of supply for in-house production and then merged with the transferred production order data. The result is then saved.

Note

In the source of supply for in-house production additional fields can be maintained. These fields are used for functions in SAP APO but are not available in SAP APO.

Planned order conversion from SAP APO

In this scenario, the conversion of planned orders from SAP APO to SAP R/3 takes place automatically. In SAP R/3, the system adds operations and components that are not APO-relevant from the R/3 master data.

The operation dates from the APO planned order are copied to the production order. The production order is transferred to SAP APO where it replaces the planned order.

Conversion of APO Planned Orders in SAP R/3

In this process the conversion of planned orders takes place in SAP R/3. The planned orders transferred from SAP APO are selected and converted using the relevant R/3 transactions.

Caution

This process is not recommended because the section dates for the planned order from SAP APO cannot be copied to the production order as part of this conversion. The production order is completely rescheduled in SAP R/3 and any scheduling for the planned order that has been carried out in SAP APO is lost. The production order is then transferred to SAP APO and may by scheduled differently to the planned order.
