Functions for MRP-based Detailed Scheduling  

Use

MRP-based Detailed Scheduling enables you to carry out detailed scheduling in SAP APO, without requiring a supply source, while continuing to use the planning functions of SAP ERP. Using MRP-based Detailed Scheduling, you can benefit from functions in the following areas:

●      SAP ERP collective order replication in SAP APO

●      SAP ERP planned order capacity requirements in SAP APO

●      SAP ERP alternative sequence replication in SAP APO

Prerequisites

In Customizing for SAP ERP, you have activated MRP-based Detailed Scheduling for the plant after choosing Integration with Other mySAP.com Components → Advanced Planning and Optimization → Application-Specific Settings and Enhancements → Settings for MRP-Based Detailed Scheduling → Activate MRP-Based Detailed Scheduling. For each selected plant, you can activate the individual functions described below.

Features

●      Transfer of Collective Orders from SAP ERP to SAP APO

After the transfer of collective orders from SAP ERP to SAP APO, you must run the SAP_PP_MRPDS heuristic to create fixed pegging relationships between the orders of the order network in SAP APO. Optionally, buffer times between orders can also be considered.

●      Transfer of Direct Procurement

The SAP ERP system transfers the following:

○       Components of the planned order and production order meant for direct procurement

○       Purchase requisitions with direct procurement

○       Purchase orders with direct procurement

●      Transfer of Planned Orders with Operations from SAP ERP to SAP APO

You can transfer planned orders with operations to SAP APO without needing a supply source such as PDS or PPM. The operations and capacity requirements of the planned order are derived from a temporary conversion of the planned order into a production order in SAP ERP..

Additionally, if routing has not been defined, you can use the existing Customizing in SAP ERP to generate a default operation. For more information, see Customizing in SAP ERP under Production → Shop Floor Control → Operations → Task List Selection → Define Default Values.

In MRP-based Detailed Scheduling, the scheduling system is SAP APO, with the dates determined by PP/DS being used by SAP ERP in the execution. For more information, see Detailed Scheduling.

●      Transfer of Alternative Sequences

Alternative sequences in a production order are sets of operations that can be used as alternatives to the current sequence. These may be required in case of machine breakdowns or operation optimization based on lot-sizes. Note that alternative sequences must be a subset of the standard sequence.

You can transfer alternative sequences in the production order from the SAP ERP system to SAP APO as alternative modes using mode coupling. An alternative sequence is transferred only if it has the same number of operations. For more information, on SAP Library see SAP ERP Central Component → Logistics → Production Planning and Control (PP) → Production Orders (PP-SFC) → Copying Master Data → Routing Selection → Sequences → Exchanging Alternative Sequences.

You can change the mode of an operation to an alternative mode from the Detailed Scheduling Planning Board in SAP APO; this causes the selection of the corresponding alternative sequence in SAP ERP. The system takes over the dates determined in SAP APO for the new standard sequence after swapping.

The figure below shows sample scenarios for alternative sequences in SAP ERP. Only those alternative sequences that do not contain operations different from the standard sequence can be modeled in SAP APO.

●      Adjust Purchase Requisition Creation in SAP ERP

This function can ensure that purchase requisitions are not created from SAP APO. It is required to make sure that no excess purchase requisitions are created.

●      Prevention of Planning File Entry Creation in SAP ERP

SAP APO scheduling results in the creation of planning file entries in SAP ERP. You can prevent this creation if you set the corresponding indicator in Customizing. Choose from the following options:

○       None

○       No planning file entries for changes from SAP APO (only for the header material)

○       No planning file entries for changes from SAP APO (for both header material and the component)

The changes transferred from SAP APO are recognized in SAP ERP as being MRP-relevant and result in the creation of a planning file entry. The function prevents this creation so that subsequent MRP runs in SAP ERP do not invalidate the SAP APO dates.

●      Prevention of Rescheduling on Order Conversion in SAP ERP

In the MRP-based Detailed Scheduling scenario, since SAP ERP is used for most order processing-related tasks, you can convert planned orders in SAP ERP itself. To prevent loss of scheduling information in SAP APO during the conversion, the function simulates a condition wherein it appears as though the conversion was triggered in SAP APO.

This conversion of planned orders is subject to the following conditions:

○       Only full conversion retains SAP APO dates.

○       Manual changes must not be carried out during the conversion; date changes are ignored by the system but quantity changes may result in rescheduling.

●      Transfer of Operation Texts in In-house Production Orders

In the earlier standard solution, the SAP ERP order operation texts were not integrated with SAP APO, but were derived from the supply source. These texts are now integrated.
