Delta Initialization of Planning Areas
Delta initialization is a special way of planning area initialization. You initialize an already initialized planning area without changing the global or the key figure periods. You do not need to deinitialize the planning area; the system recognizes that it has already been initialized and runs in delta mode.
During delta initialization of planning areas, the system first performs SNP queue and master data updates, and then creates the missing time series in liveCache.
For more information about SNP queue and master data update, see Processing Master Data Queues in Supply Network Planning (SNP).
The system automatically carries out the steps in the time series update cycle, with the exception of planning area initialization. To make planning area initialization run automatically after master data update in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization, choose . Choose Update Time Series Automatically in the TS:Aut.Update (Time Series: Automatic Update) field.
Before changing the setting to automatically run planning area initialization after master data update, consider the following:
Due to the automatic initialization, the performance of master data updates decreases, for example, loading data in the shuffler might take more time.
Automatic initialization ensures that errors caused by missing time series do not occur.
Any SNP planner can initiate planning area initialization; they must have the necessary authorizations and must not interrupt the initialization process.
Automatic initialization can be expected to take less time because of frequent time series updates.
Even if you use automatic initialization of time series, we recommend you schedule regular delta initialization of planning areas.
To run initialization of planning areas on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose (transaction /SAPAPO/TSINIT).
To run planning area initialization in delta mode, select the Delta Initialization checkbox.
