Batch Management
Previously, you could create batches in the batch master and create batches for the inbound delivery, and the system noted the country of origin when creating the warehouse task. You can now pick batches based on batch status management in the goods issue process using batch management, and manage documentary batches. Furthermore, you can create batches in the goods receipt process, work with documentary batches, and execute batch valuations.
Batch management is integrated in the inbound and outbound delivery process.
In Customizing, you have defined a number range for batches and you have set the update control. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) under Cross-Process Settings ® Batch Management ®
● Define Number Range for Batch
● Set Update Control (Centralized, Decentralized)
In Customizing for the ERP system, you have set the batches uniquely at material level. For more information, see the IMG for ERP under Logistics - General ® Batch Management ® Specify Batch Level and Activate Status Management ® Batch Level.
The following features are available:
● Batch search in the picking process
You can execute the batch search in the picking process using characteristics or selection criteria that are stored in the selection class.
● ERP Integration
ERP sends the outbound delivery and the valuated batch selection criteria to EWM.
● Batches in the outbound delivery
You can display the selection criteria for each delivery item in the outbound delivery request and the outbound delivery order. In addition, when creating a warehouse task, the system selects only the batches that correspond to the predefined selection criteria.
● Batch search
When creating a warehouse task for the outbound delivery, the system takes the batch selection criteria into account.
If you enter batches in the outbound delivery, the system then uses the batch that you specified.
● Batches in the inbound delivery
You can adopt the expiration date, the country of origin and the production date of the inbound delivery in the corresponding batch characteristics.
● Batch Status Management
Batches can have the characteristics unrestricted and restricted. You can prevent warehouse tasks for batches that have the restricted characteristic from being created. Furthermore, using an indicator in the delivery attributes, you can control restricted batches and stop them from being posted to goods issue or goods receipt.
● Documentary Batch
Batches of products that are classified as a documentary batch are not inventory-managed by the system. However, it is possible to follow up on the batch in the ERP system. The system creates a documentary batch as additional information before the goods receipt. This additional information is then located in the batch field of the inbound or outbound delivery.
● Monitor
In the warehouse management monitor, you can select warehouse stock using batch characteristics.
