Function documentation Retail-Specific Master Data in EWM Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) provides you with retail-specific master data.  For example, the product master contains several new attributes that EWM uses for checks in the goods receipt.

Integration

Retail-specific master data is either transferred from SAP ERP to EWM, or EWM reads it synchronously from SAP ERP. In addition, new fields are available that you can define in EWM only, for example, who checked the product master data in EWM.

Note

We recommend that you do not change data transferred from SAP ERP.

Prerequisites

You have configured your SAP ERP as an SAP Retail System, enabling you to define the corresponding retail-specific master data in SAP ERP. For more information, see SAP Help Portal under help.sap.com ® SAP ERP Central Component ® SAP Library ® SAP Retail, under Basic Principles ® Configuration as SAP Retail.

The retail-specific master data transferred from SAP ERP to EWM contains additional material master attributes. If you want to transfer these retail-specific attributes from SAP ERP to EWM, use the distribution scenario for material masters. You do not have to make any special settings for the distribution of retail-specific attributes. For more information about defining distribution scenarios for material masters, see the Solution Manager Content under SAP SCM ® Configuration Structures ® SAP SCM 5.0 / SAP SCM 5.1 ® Basic Settings for  SAP EWM.

Features

Display Retail-Specific Fields in the Product Master of SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) in EWM

On the SAP Easy Access screen, under Extended Warehouse Management ® Master Data ® Product ® Maintain Product, Global Data view, you can display the following retail-specific master data for a product:

If you are working with a retail-specific article from the SAP Retail System, EWM displays the Trading Goods Category field on the Properties tab page in the General Data group box. You can choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with the quick info text Navigate to article structure todisplay information about generic products and structured articles, for example, lot, display or sales set.

If you want to display structured articles, SAP ERP must be available. Only then can EWM call the transaction for displaying the material BOM (CS11) in SAP ERP to call the information about the structure of this article in SAP ERP. This structure information is saved in SAP ERP as a bill of material (BOM). BOMs cannot be transferred from SAP ERP to EWM. For this reason, EWM reads the BOM synchronously from SAP ERP, for example, for displaying the material BOM from the product master. EWM reads the data from the SAP ERP system from which the header material of the BOM was transferred to EWM. If you want to display information about the structure of a generic article, SAP ERP does not have to be available, as this information is available in EWM (the generic product is stored in the variants of the generic product).

Note

The Business Add-In (BAdI) /SCWM/EX_MD_BOM BAdI: Bill of Material Functions, calls the transaction for displaying the material BOM (CS11) in SAP ERP. If you would like to call another transaction in SAP ERP to display the BOM, implement the BAdI again.

In the Checked by group box, you can find the name of the person who checked the product, and the date on which the product was checked. For more information, see Checks in the Goods Receipt Process.

In the Shelf Life group box, the entry in the % Remaining Shelf Life field displays the remaining shelf life as a percentage, and corresponds to the storage percentage in SAP Retail. For more information, see Checks in the Goods Receipt Process.

For more information about structured articles, see SAP Help Portal under help.sap.com ® SAP ERP ® SAP ERP Central Component ® SAP Library ® SAP ERP Central Component ® SAP Retail ® Master Data  ® Article Master Data ® Article: Article Categories ® Articles: Structured Articles.

Fore more information about generic products and variants, see SAP Help Portal under help.sap.com ® SAP ERP ® SAP ERP Central Component ® SAP Library ® SAP ERP Central Component ® SAP Retail ® Master Data  ® Article Master Data ® Article: Article Categories ® Articles: Generic Articles and Variants.

For more information, see also the field helps on the Maintain Product screen.

Generic Search Help for Generic Products

A search help for simple searches for generic articles is available in the generic search help for the product master. Using this, you can search for generic products as well as variants. EWM always shows all products as a result, that is, generic products and variants. In the results list, the corresponding generic product is listed next to the variant. This way, it is clear which generic product the variant belongs to. This search help is available in all generic search helps for the product master.

Note

On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Extended Warehouse Management ® Master Data ® Product ® Maintain Product. Use the input help for Product. EWM displays a dialog box for the product number. On the Search for Generic Products and Variants tab page, enter your search criteria. In the results list, EWM displays the product with its product description and corresponding generic product, if applicable.

Display Generic Products in EWM

On the SAP Easy Access screen, under Extended Warehouse Management ® Master Data ® Product ® Display Generic Products, you can display the structure of a generic product. Since no retail-specific classifications are transferred from SAP ERP to EWM, no characteristics for the variants of the generic product are available in EWM.

If you want to display a generic product, you can specify the generic product or one of its variations as the product number. If you want to search for a product number, choose the input help for Product. EWM displays a dialog box for the product number. On the Search for Generic Products and Variants tab page, enter your search criteria, and select a product number from the results list.

You can navigate within the product master of the individual products. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Extended Warehouse Management ® Master Data ® Product ® Display Generic Products and display a generic product. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text with quick info text Display object.
