SAP Event Stream Processor uses a SQL Anywhere database to store cluster
configuration, policy configuration, data services, and cluster cache data. Use Interactive
SQL or command line utilities to backup, restore, and validate the cluster
database.
The ESP installer creates a cluster database during
installation, and prompts you to enter a user name and password for this database. The
cluster database created by the
installer
contains a single node. If you wish, you can also create your own cluster database, by
following the cluster example under
STREAMING_HOME\cluster\examples. However if you
create a cluster database, you will need to deploy a cluster configuration file to it using
streamingclusternode.
While there is a correct order for starting and stopping nodes and the cluster database,
there is no need to stop the database when the nodes are stopped.
To connect to a local database that is currently running, you can use the
Connect window with the Connect to a running database
on this computer option.
To connect to a database that is running on a network database server, you can use
the Connect window with the Connect to a running database
on another computer option.
A backup is a full or partial copy of the information in a database, held in a
physically separate location. If the database becomes unavailable, you can restore it from
the backup. You can use your backups to restore all committed changes to the database up to
the time it became unavailable.
Database file corruption may not be reported until the database server tries to access
the affected part of the database. You should periodically check that your database is valid
by using tools such as the Validation utility (dbvalid), the sa_validate system procedure,
or the VALIDATE statement.
