Distribution of Dangerous Goods Master Records: Process

Purpose

This process describes how you distribute dangerous goods master records between different systems. Source and target systems are usually SAP systems. If non-SAP systems are used, these systems must function in the same way as an SAP system. You can use the distribution of dangerous goods master records to control which dangerous goods master records and which fields of a dangerous goods master are to be distributed to which target systems.

Update Model

Prerequisites

You have edited Customizing for Distribution (ALE).

You have edited Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management in the section under Interfaces: Filling and DistributionDistribution.

You can use the IMG activities Specify Checkbox Structure for Dangerous Goods Master and Specify Checkbox Structure for DG Packing Requirement to define from the target systems which fields of a dangerous goods master are to be distributed.

Process Flow

You start distribution by sending the dangerous goods data from the source system. You can enter the following selection criteria: material, dangerous goods regulation, selection date, and logical system. For the material, dangerous goods regulation, and logical system criteria, you can specify intervals.

If you want to distribute all dangerous goods master records (initial distribution), set the selection date to 01.01.0001.

You can set the time of distribution, for example, immediately after a change or periodically by scheduling a batch job.

The SAP system selects and reads the data records from the dangerous goods master and transfers the data to the appropriate IDoc of the type DANGEROUSGOOD.

There may be several change statuses in both the target and source system, before and after the selection date. The system generates a change number for the selection date. In the target system, the data records remain unchanged until the selection date; for the period after the selection date the data records are taken from the source system. Any identical change statuses that occur temporarily are compared and matched up by the system.

You have the option of first simulating the distribution from the source system to the target systems. When the distribution of dangerous goods master records is simulated, the master records determined for distribution are displayed in the source system but not distributed to the target systems.

To display the distribution logs, in the Dangerous Goods Management menu in the target system choose ToolsImport LogCheck Logs .

The IDoc of type DANGEROUSGOOD is sent by means of ALE to the systems you chose.

The SAP system distributes the dangerous goods data using the BAPI_DANGEROUSGOOD_REPLICATE and BAPI_DANGEROUSGOOD_SAVEREPMUL methods. These are stored in the Business Object Repository (business object BUS1078: dangerous goods).

The update module is triggered in the target systems. This ensures that the SAP system identifies the dangerous goods data records and matches up the old data with the new data depending on how you set the checkbox structures in the IMG activities Specify Checkbox Structure for Dangerous Goods Master and Specify Checkbox Structure for DG Packing Requirement .

The application document is posted during distribution.

If data does not yet exist in the target systems, it is automatically created.

Data can be lost if you have edited data manually in the target systems since the last data distribution and this data is not present in the source system. Data can also be lost if you have not correctly set the checkbox structures in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management .

In the target systems, you can monitor the data from the ingoing IDoc using IDoc monitoring.

The SAP system writes a log for the data distribution. You can view this log in the target systems.

Result

Data Processing

During the time the complete data is sent, the dangerous goods master is locked and no changes can be made. If this lock cannot be set, you cannot edit the dangerous goods master.

If a dangerous goods master cannot be found in the target systems, the system creates the dangerous goods master with the key that was transferred from the source system.

If a dangerous goods master exists in the target systems, its data is prepared.

Administration

To monitor data distribution, in the SAP menu choose ToolsALEALE Administration .
