You use this function to enter the data in the cable material master that the system requires to determine the most suitable reel for the cable.
You have read Characteristics for SAP for Mill Products .
In Customizing for
Logistics - General
, you have assigned the characteristic name 202 to the characteristic SAP_MILLCA_LENGTH, by choosing
To be able to enter the data required for the reel calculation in the
Cable Data
view when you are creating the cable master data, you must use one of the following material types or your own material type:
MCFE : Mill Cable finished product
MCHA
:
Mill Cable trading goods
MCHF
:
Mill Cable semifinished product
MCRO
:
Mill Cable raw material
You have created a valuated material variant with a plant-specific configuration (material master view
MRP 3
) to one of the above material types by assigning it to a
configurable material
. You have classified the cable using a class of class type
023 (Batch).
This class contains the characteristic SAP_MILLCA_LENGTH for transferring the individual length to the reel calculation.
To ensure that the reel calculation functions properly, the relevant characteristics (see following table) in the class of class type
300
(material variant) in the configurable material must match those in the IMG activity
Assign Characteristics for SAP for Mill Products
. In addition, if you work with fast entry of characteristics for orders and sales orders, the characteristics from the characteristic display must match the relevant characteristics.

As an alternative to 4, you can also use directly configurable materials as a cable in the reel calculation by defining the cable as a configurable material in the
Basic View 2
view in the material master. In addition, you have classified the material master of the cable with a class of class type
300
(Variants)
. This class contains the relevant characteristics.
Recommendation
We recommend that you proceed as described in 4.
Enter the following data for the reel calculation in the material master of the cable:
Net weight of the cable material (required entry field)
Cable diameter (required entry field)
Percentage allowance (plus/minus) on the cable diameter
Bending factor
Coil delivery indicator
Run-out flange indicator
Clearance between top cable layer and top edge of the reel disk
Maximum number of vertical layers
