 Posting Goods Movements for HUs and Materials

To post goods movements for handling units (HUs), proceed as follows:

  1. From the SAP menu, select Start of the navigation path Logistics Next navigation step Central Functions Next navigation step Handling Unit Management Next navigation step Goods Movement of Handling Units Next navigation step Posting General Goods Movements (with HU). End of the navigation path

  2. If you want to post goods movements for handling units, choose the Handling units tab.

  1. Enter the reason for the goods movement (if applicable), the (destination) plant, (destination) storage location and the handling unit, for which you want to post the goods movement in the upper section of this screen.

  2. You now have the following options:

  • If you entered the wrong handling unit, you can select it and then use Delete HU to remove it from the selection list that appears in the lower half of the screen.

  • If you want to post goods movement for a handling unit by creating a delivery, choose Create delivery . The system then creates a delivery and you can go directly to delivery processing.

Note Note

Please note that you must always create a delivery for goods movements that include both handling units and individual materials.

  • If you want to post goods issue directly for the handling units you specified, choose Post goods movement . The system then creates a material document for this goods movement.

If you want to check which materials the handling unit contains, select the Material tab before posting the goods movement.

To post goods movements for materials, proceed as follows:

  1. From the SAP menu, select Start of the navigation path Logistics Next navigation step Central Functions Next navigation step Handling Unit Management Next navigation step Goods Movement of Handling Units Next navigation step Posting General Goods Movements (with HU). End of the navigation path

  2. If you want to post goods movements for materials, choose the Material tab.

  3. Enter the following data on the upper half of the SOURCE material entry tab:

  • The process that you want to post

  • The material that you want to move

  • The plant at which the material is located

  • The storage location at which the material is located

  • The quantity that you want to move

  • Other entries such as batch, valuation type or cost center, depending on the movement type

  1. If it is necessary to do so for the process, go to the TARGET mat. entry tab and enter the necessary target data such as destination plant and destination storage location.

  1. You now have the following options:

  • If you entered the wrong material, for example, you can select it and then use Delete to remove it from the selection list that appears in the lower half of the screen.

  • If you want to post goods movement for the material, select Create delivery . The system then creates a delivery and you can go directly to delivery processing.

If you want to post goods movement for both handling units and materials simultaneously in one process, proceed as follows:

  1. Enter the desired handling units as described above (posting goods movements for handling units) and then select the Material tab.

  2. Enter the desired materials as described above (posting goods movements for materials).

  3. Choose Create delivery .

Depending on the process, the system creates one or more deliveries, which you can process by selecting Change delivery .
