The production version defines the method by which a material can be manufactured. It specifies a number of different parameters such as:
The alternative BOM for BOM usage
The task list type, the task list group, and the group counter for the assignment
Lot size restrictions and the period or area of validity
Whether the production version can be used in repetitive manufacturing (
Repetitive manufacturing allowed
indicator)
Note
From release 4.6A onwards, repetitive manufacturing is based on production versions. You no longer create any run schedule headers in
Logistics
. Run schedule headers that were created in releases before 4.6A are still used and therefore still exist in the system. (Refer to:
Run Schedule Header in Cost Object Controlling
)
You collect the costs for a production version on a product cost collector. You create this product cost collector manually in the menu of
Product Cost by Period
. You can create the product cost collector individually (refer to:
Processing Product Cost Collectors
) or use the function
Collective Entry for Repetitive Manufacturing
with which you create a separate product cost collector for each production version used in repetitive manufacturing (refer to:
Product Cost Collector: Collective Entry for Repetitive Manufacturing
). The production version is linked to the product cost collector through a
production process
.
Production versions are not based on the lot size but refer to a period of time defined by the user. Under some circumstances this period of time can be the entire life of the product.
Cost Object Controlling
is period-based, and measures the target costs and actual costs for the period for each product cost collector.
