Procedure documentation Adding Sub-Packages to the Main Package  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The semantic units within the main package are represented by its sub-packages. They contain the assigned development objects, along with the associated sub-packages if they exist. This is known as nesting.

Prerequisites

Procedure

You can add packages to a main package in one of two ways. If you wish, you can create new sub-packages – from within a main package – and assign them to the main package at the same time. Alternatively, you can add existing packages to a main package in a separate step.

To add new sub-packages to the main package:

  1. Make sure you are in Change mode.
  2. Choose the Packages Included tab.
  3. To create new sub-packages, choose the Add button.
  4. The system displays the Create Package dialog box.

  5. Enter attributes for this package.
  6. Enter a name for the package that complies with the tool’s Naming Conventions. Within SAP itself, Basis package names must begin with S; other packages must begin with a letter from A to R, or from U to X

Enter the other attributes. For more information, see step 4 in Creating the Main Package.

  7. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text to confirm your entries.
  8. Repeat steps 3-5 for any other sub-packages you want to create.
  9. Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Save.
  10. In the dialog box that appears, assign a transport request.

Note

If the package already exists, choose the Add existing package button.

Result

You have created one or more sub-packages and added them to a main package. To add sub-packages to an existing sub-package (that is, to nest sub-packages), double-click a package and follow the instructions above.
