 Organizational Structure in Personnel Administration

Definition

Administrative enterprise or personnel structure whose elements are relevant for personnel administration and payroll accounting processes.

Use

Personnel administration is traditionally characterized by numerous individual pieces of information, which must be stored, updated, and evaluated for each employee. Using organizational structures, you can flexibly plan and map the organizational levels of your company to control and simplify processes such as time recording and payroll. These organizational structures include:

  • Enterprise structure

  • Personnel structure

  • Pay scale structure

  • Wage types

  • User authorizations

Structure

  • Reproducing organizational structures

In Personnel Administration , organizational hierarchies describe the subdivision of a company into company codes, personnel areas, and personnel subareas.

    Note Note

The Organizational Management component enables you to make further subdivisions, for example, into groups, subgroups, projects.

    End of the note.

In Personnel Administration , organizational hierarchies and their control functions are reproduced using a system of different groupings. The groupings enable you to set up an enterprise structure and a personnel structure that are independent of each other.

You can differentiate between enterprise and personnel structures by allocating different groupings or combine them by allocating the same groupings. You define the time, pay scale, and wage type structures within these groupings. This ensures that the conditions stored in the time, pay scale, and wage type structures apply to all of the employees assigned to the same enterprise and personnel structure.

  • Processing human resource data

By means of the assignment of an employee to the enterprise and personnel structure, the SAP system provides optimal support for processing human resource data. The system can automaticallycheck employee-related data as it is entered to ensure that it is plausible. Additional support is provided by default values automatically included in specific fields. This ensures the consistency and reliability of the HR data set.

  • Evaluating human resource data

In reporting, you can use the organizational structures to create evaluations and analyses of employee data for Controlling and departments.Employee-related evaluations can be run across all entities in the company’s organizational structure, so that you can use an evaluation both for company-wide and department-related analyses.
