Creating Dependencies for a Characteristic

Use

You can assign the following dependency types to a characteristic:

  • Preconditions

  • Selection conditions

  • Procedures

  • Actions

Once you have assigned dependencies to a characteristic the pushbutton Dependencies appears on the Basic Data tab page.

Procedure

Global Dependencies for a Characteristic

To assign global dependencies, which you have defined in the variant configuration menu, to a characteristic:

  1. In the characteristic, choose Start of the navigation path Extras Next navigation step Object dependencies Next navigation step Assignments. End of the navigation path

  2. On the assignment screen, enter the name of your dependency.

  3. To display the source code of the dependency from here, choose the pushbutton Dependency editor.

    You can also create global object dependencies directly from the assignment screen of a characteristic. To do this, choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step New dependency Next navigation step Global End of the navigation path .

  4. Confirm your entry and return to the characteristic.

Local Dependencies for a Characteristic

  1. In characteristics choose Start of the navigation path Extras Next navigation step Object dependencies Next navigation step Editor. End of the navigation path

  2. You see a dialog box from which you select a dependency type.

  3. Confirm your entries.

  4. You see the editor, where you can enter the source code for your dependency.

  5. Save your source code.

You see the basic data screen again.

If you want to create additional local dependencies for your characteristic, choose Start of the navigation path Extras Next navigation step Object dependencies Next navigation step Assignments, End of the navigation path then Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step New dependency Next navigation step Local.
