 Performing Sequence Checks

Use

For various types of production, it is necessary to check the sequence of the components to be used for an operation or phase. If the components were picked as Handling Units (HUs), material identification takes place at HU level.

Depending on whether the sequence check for the process order or operation/phase was created in the master recipe , you can

Perform a sequence check for the whole process order at the beginning of the production

Perform a sequence check at the beginning of an operation or phase

Since the sequence check implies a completeness check has already been performed, it is a good idea to carry out a sequence check for a whole order if it is the only form of identification.

The sequence check refers to the sequence of the materials in the material list of the process order. Here the materials are assigned to an operation or a phase.

Goods issue posting

Since the identification is carried out directly before the actual use of the material, the material consumption can also be posted as goods issue at this time. In this case, the system carries out the GI posting automatically at the end of the sequence check if no separate goods issue posting is maintained in the master recipe.

The goods issue posting of the components is carried out at HU level. The quantity of all materials with all batches that are filled in HUs is posted as a goods issue.

A partial goods issue posting of an HU is not possible. Only the complete HU can be posted as a goods issue. In the caase of an error, the complete HU is refused.

An independent goods issue document is created for each HU.

The materials required for production were picked.

The HUs that are to be identified have not yet been posted as a goods issue.

This can be the case, for example, if a completeness check with an automatic goods issue posting took place before the sequence check.

Procedure

In the PI sheet, call up the Sequence check .

The Material Identification: Sequence screen appears.

Enter the HUs to which the required materials were assigned in the correct sequence.

This sequence refers to the material list of the process order.

If your terminal has a barcode scanner connected to it, you can enter it in this way. The barcode scanner dialog does not take place in the SAP system.

The system uses a symbol to inform you whether the identification number you entered is correct.

Ending the sequence check:

If all the picked HUs were entered in the correct sequence, you can exit the sequence check by choosing Save .

The sequence check is confirmed as successful in the PI sheet.

If the sequence check cannot be completed successfully, an error message appears as well in a corresponding note in the PI sheet.

Automatic GI posting if maintained in the master recipe:

The system automatically posts the consumption of the components for the process order or operation/phase as a goods issue. Messages are sent to the process message destination PI51. You can use the message monitor to check whether the messages were processed correctly.

The data from the sequence check and the goods issue posting are transferred to the batch record. You can use the message monitor to check whether the messages were processed correctly.

For more information on sending messages, see:
