 Cross-Company Code G/L Account Posting

Procedure

To post a cross-company code business transaction, proceed as follows:

  1. From the General Ledger menu, select Document entry and then G/L account posting or another function.

  2. Check under Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Editing options End of the navigation path to ensure that the option Documents not cross-company code was not selected.

  3. Enter the document header data.

  4. Either enter a number in the field Cross-CC.no. (number of the cross-company code transaction) in the document header or have the system generate a document number. For example, you can enter a cross-company code transaction number, such as ADJUSTMENT_2 .

  5. If you do not enter a number in this field, the system generates an internal document number by putting together the document number in the first company code (ten digits), the company code (four characters), and the fiscal year (two digits).

  6. At the bottom of the initial screen, enter a posting key ( 40 for a debit posting or 50 for a credit posting) and a G/L account, for example, 230000 . Choose Enter .

  7. When you are entering a transfer posting, the screen for entering a G/L account item is the same whether you are entering it in one company code or in a cross-company code transaction.

  8. Enter an amount in the G/L item for the first company code. At the bottom of the screen, enter the posting key, a G/L account number, for example, 889000 , and the number of the second company code.

  9. Choose Enter . The system makes sure that the second company code has the same local currency as the first.

  10. If the document type requires an external document number, the system prompts you to enter a document number for the second document.

  11. Enter an amount in the G/L line item in the second company code.

  12. You can display the overview by choosing Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Document End of the navigation path o verview .

  13. To post the cross-company code transaction, choose Start of the navigation path Document Next navigation step Post End of the navigation path .

Result

The system generates certain document items automatically. These are receivables and payables between the company codes involved.

Note that the debits equal the credits for each document in a company code. The system posts one document for each company code involved.
