Fast Entry of Characteristics in Goods Receipt

Use

In the past you always had to go the characteristic value assignment screen for each item in order to assign values to the characteristics of materials when posting goods receipts.

Fast entry of characteristics lets you enter characteristic value assignments for up to ten characteristics directly in the item overview. This greatly reduces entry effort, particularly for materials with few characteristics and for preconfigured materials.

Integration

Fast entry of characteristics is available in goods receipts for purchase orders and for production orders.

Prerequisites

If you want to use fast entry of characteristics for goods receipts, you must have made the following settings in Customizing of Inventory Management and Physical Inventory :

  • You have created a characteristic display that includes the desired characteristics for goods receipt.

You define a characteristic display at Start of the navigation path Settings for Enjoy Transactions Next navigation step Settings for Goods Movements (MIGO) Next navigation step Fast Entry of Characteristics in Goods Movements Next navigation step Define Characteristic Display for Overview Screen (mySAP Mill Products) End of the navigation path .

  • You have assigned an application group that includes the Goods receipt transaction to this characteristic display.

You define an application group at Start of the navigation path Settings for Enjoy Transactions Next navigation step Settings for Goods Movements (MIGO) Next navigation step Fast Entry of Characteristics in Goods Movements Next navigation step Define Application Group for Characteristic Display End of the navigation path .

Features

In the item overview of the Goods movements transaction you can display up to ten batch characteristics using a characteristic display; you can then classify the characteristics when you enter goods receipt items.

The classification status is also displayed in the item overview. The system displays the following symbols in the Class Stat column to indicate whether classification is complete or whether there are still inconsistencies:

Description

Classification of the batch is complete and consistent. You can change the classification.

Classification of the batch is incomplete (e.g. mandatory characteristics are missing) or inconsistent (object dependencies conflict). You can change the classification.

Classification of the batch is blocked.

Note Note

You can only assign the Blocked status manually in the batch master record. If the classification of a batch is blocked, batch determination will not find the batch.

End of the note.

The batch is not classified.

The classification of the batch can be displayed but cannot be changed.

When you click on these symbols in the item overview, you are taken to the characteristic value assignment screen of the corresponding batch.

Note Note

When you branch to the characteristic value assignment screen of an item for the first time, the system may adopt the configuration of the corresponding purchase order or order item as the classification of the batch.

End of the note.
