Background documentation Prerequisites for Using LAW  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

For you to be able to use the License Administration Workbench (LAW), the prerequisites listed below must be fulfilled. You must also have authorization for authorization object S_USER_GRP, ACTVT  = 03 (Display), and for transferring the results, you also require the authorizations SDCC_DEV =  READ and  SDCC_RUN = READ, WRITE for the object S_SDCC.

LAW System

You have defined a system as the central system. This LAW system has at least SAP release 4.6C.

The transaction LICENSE_ADMIN or SLAW exists in the LAW system. As of SAP Web AS 6.10, transaction LICENSE_ADMIN is included in the standard SAP system. As of SAP NetWeaver ‘04, transaction SLAW is also included in the standard SAP system. For older SAP releases, the transactions are available through Support Packages.

For more information, see the SAP Service Marketplace under http://service.sap.com/licenseauditing License Administration Workbench.

Component Systems

The component systems have a release status of at least SAP release  3.1I.

The report RSLAW_PLUGIN exists in the component systems to collect the measurement data.

The report RSLAW_PLUGIN is the plug-in for the License Administration Workbench and builds the interfaces between the LAW central system and the connected component systems. It is essentially used for formatting the measurement results and transferring them from the component system to the LAW. As of SAP NetWeaver ‘04, it is also used as a type of RFC module for communication between remote systems.

To use the new functions of the LAW (6.40), and the future corrections for older release statuses, use SAP Note 766822 to migrate report RSLAW_PLUGIN for the releases in which it already exists (4.6C, 4.6D, 6.10, and 6.20). For releases 3.1, 4.0, 4.5, and 4.6B, in which the report did not previously exist, you can use SAP Note 777163 to create the program object. All current and future corrections for the plug-in are based on these two SAP Notes. Alternatively, you can continue to use program objects in the customer namespace. However, we no longer recommend this.

User Data

The user master records need a uniform criterion, such as the same user ID, the same e-mail address, or the same telephone number.

Availability of the Data to Be Evaluated

You have determined the measurement-relevant data for the component systems and the LAW systems as follows:

...

       1.      You have classified the user master records in every relevant system in accordance with the activities of the users in the system. Do not use any multi-client/multi-system users (ID11) when doing so.

       2.      You have run the system measurement (transaction USMM) in every measurement-relevant system.

For information about system measurement with transaction USMM, see the SAP Library under System Measurement.
