  Management of Succession Planning

Purpose

You use the Execution of Succession Planning process to map the planning process to determine a successor for a key position or key job. You store the individual process steps in the form of activities in Activity Management . You create activities for each assignment of a candidate to a succession plan.

You can search for suitable candidates in the talent pool and then assign them to succession plans.

Using the candidate data stored in the Talent Warehouse, you can review the skills of the respective candidates to see whether they might be suitable for a vacant key positionor key job.

You can rank the candidates either manually or automatically according to specific criteria. In this way, you can discover which of a large number of candidates are suitable as successors.

Process Flow

  1. You open the Succession Planner's start page ( Personal Pages view).

  2. You choose Succession Planning to obtain an overview of the succession plans and the assigned candidates. These are candidates who are linked with the succession plan because the succession planner made the relevant assignment.

    The system displays all succession plans for which you are a member of the support team.

  3. You search for other candidates and assign them to the succession plans.

  4. If necessary, you print the list of candidates for a succession plan.

  5. You select a succession plan to display a list of the assigned candidates.

  6. The system displays the list of assigned candidates. You can then do the following:

    • You process the assignments by creating activities for the respective assignments. If required, you can create activities for several assignments at the same time.

    • You view the rankings of the assigned candidates or, if necessary, assign your own rankings to candidates or assignments.

    • You obtain an overview of the profiles of the assigned candidates. You can also change the profiles if necessary.

    • You view the assignments of a candidate to other succession plans.

    • You enter a note for an assignment.

  7. You decide which candidates are suitable as successors for a position and which candidates are unsuitable.

Result

You have identified suitable successors for key positions or jobs.
