 Processing Routings

Use

The routing function allows you to define certain itineraries for which an enterprise-specific airfare rate or discount is valid. During a price query, the system applies the rates or discounts for the defined routes together with the relevant Customizing settings.

Prerequisites

You have defined the following in Customizing for Travel Planning under Start of the navigation path Travel Planning Next navigation step Rates and Discounts Next navigation step Airfare Rates and Discounts Next navigation step Flight Routes End of the navigation path :

  • Routes
  • Routings
  • Route segments
  • Airlines for route segments
  • Booking codes for route segments
  • Geographical settings for route segments

To be able to use these route settings in price queries, you need to enter them in Customizing under Start of the navigation path Travel Planning Next navigation step Rates and Discounts Next navigation step Airfare Rates and Discounts Next navigation step Airline Programs for Corporate Customers Next navigation step Define Airfare Rates End of the navigation path in the view Change Negotiated Airfare Rates or under Define Airfare Discounts in the view Change Discount Agreements for Flights .

Features

Composition of a Routing

A routing is made up of routes . You can define a routing variant by determining several alternative routes for which same negotiated rate or discount applies.

A route is made up of either a direct route (non-stop flight) or several individual succeeding route segments (transit flight). Route segments describe the legs of a flight, such as start to stopover, stopover to stopover, or stopover to destination.

Determinants of a Route Segment

  • Start location

  • Airline provider

  • Booking code

  • Destination location

You can assign several entries to these determinants for each route segment. You will find the required data in the collective agreement.

Example

A company has negotiated a special airfare rate for the Hamburg-Sydney route with Swissair. This rate applies only to the route Hamburg-Zurich-Singapore-Sydney and Hamburg-Geneva-Bangkok-Sydney, and not to any other available flight connections.

Two possible routes for the special-rate routing can be defined:
