Function documentationPreliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework

You use the Preliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework function for the following purposes:

  • Distribution of the costs for co-products to the items of a manufacturing order

Actual costs of co-products produced for a manufacturing order are collected on the order header. At the end of the period, you use the Preliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework function to charge each co-product with its share of the costs. The costs are distributed to the order items based on equivalences.

  • Settlement of the costs of rework orders

If rework orders are created in Logistics, you use the Preliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework function to settle the costs for the rework orders to the original orders.

  • Settlement of collective orders without automatic goods movements

If you are using collective orders without automatic goods movements, you use the Preliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework function to settle each dependent order to the order above it.

    Note Note

SAP recommends that you use collective orders with automatic goods movements.

    End of the note.

Integration

You can use the Schedule Manager to assist you in performing the period-end closing activities. For more information, refer to the following sections:

Individual Functions of the Schedule Manager

Using the Scheduler

Using the Monitor

Using the Flow Definition

To be able to use the multilevel worklist to reprocess the objects that have errors, you must use the Schedule Manager with the flow definition. For more information, see the following section:

Multilevel Worklist

Prerequisites

First perform the following functions if applicable:

  • Dynamic template allocation

  • Revaluation of activity types and business processes at actual prices

  • Actual cost distribution

If you are using a cost object hierarchy and have assigned orders with co-products to this cost object hierarchy, you distribute the actual costs posted to the cost object hierarchy to the assigned orders.

  • Overhead calculation

Features

The Preliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework function is a collective function. The following objects are processed based on your selection criteria:

  • Rework orders

Rework orders are settled to the original order.

  • Joint production orders

The costs on the order header are distributed to the order items.

  • The manufacturing orders that are in collective orders without automatic goods movements and that have a dependent relationship to other manufacturing orders

Each dependent order is settled to the order above it.

These functions are performed in the indicated sequence.

The functions can also occur in combination as described below.

Rework Orders and Joint Production

You may have generated a rework order for a joint production order. In this case:

  • The system first settles the rework costs of the rework order to the header of the joint production order.

  • The system then distributes the actual costs collected on the order header to the individual order items in accordance with the apportionment structure.

Rework Orders and Collective Orders Without Automatic Goods Movements

It is possible for a rework order to settle to a manufacturing order which is linked to a collective order that does not use automatic goods movements. In this case:

  • The rework order first settles to the original manufacturing order.

  • Then the original manufacturing order (provided it is not the leading order) settles to its higher-level manufacturing order.

Note Note

SAP recommends the use of collective orders with automatic goods movements.

End of the note.
Improving Performance

To reduce the runtime of the actual cost distribution process, you can execute the Preliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework function with parallel processing.

  • If you perform Preliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework without using the Schedule Manager, enter a server group for background processing.

  • If you perform Preliminary Settlement for Co-Products, Rework using the Schedule Manager, set the Parallel processing indicator in the selection screen when you create the job variant. An entry field then appears in which you enter the server group.

Schedule Manager: Multilevel Worklist

The multilevel worklist enables you to edit the objects with errors that were processed with the individual functions. You can edit the objects of an individual processing step or the objects of an entire processing step sequence.

A prerequisite for the multilevel worklist is that you are using the Schedule Manager in conjunction with a flow definition.

See: Integration in this section.
