Multiple Specifications in Inspection Lot Creation

Use

To have the information about the multiple specifications available for the remaining inspection processing activities, the system must copy the specifications from the inspection plan into the inspection lot that will be processed. If the system selects and assigns an inspection plan with multiple specifications during inspection lot creation, the following specifications are automatically copied from the inspection plan into the inspection lot:

  • Standard inspection specifications (specifications against which the material or batch is inspected)

  • Multiple specifications (stored with the inspection lot)

The multiple specifications will then be available for valuation during results recording and when making the usage decision.

Note Note

You cannot simultaneously use multiple specifications in an inspection lot with the following other specifications: material specification, variant configuration, or specifications from the batch classification.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

For the system to be able to copy multiple specifications into an inspection lot at inspection lot creation, the following conditions must be met:

  • In the material master, the indicator Mult. Spec. is set for the inspection types for which inspection lots with multiple specifications are to be created and processed. The indicator can be set in the default values for the inspection type in Customizing and then copied to the QM view for the material.

  • The indicator Multiple Specification is set in the inspection plan header and multiple specifications have been created in the plan.

  • At the level of the material-task list (or material-inspection plan) assignments in the inspection plan, a material-task list assignment was created (that is, an assignment that is not used for multiple specifications, for example, that only specifies a material and a plant for an inspection plan). This assignment is necessary so the system can find and assign the inspection plan as the inspection specification during inspection lot creation. In addition, you must make at least one of the following assignments:

    • Objects for multiple specification and an associated object type or

    • Customer and an associated object type or

    • Customer and object with an associated object type

Features

You cannot use the functions for multiple specifications with the following inspection lot origins:

  • Production (inspection lot origin 03)

  • Delivery to customer with sales order (inspection lot origin 10)

  • Delivery to customer without sales order (inspection lot origin 11)

  • General delivery (inspection lot origin 12)

  • Repetitive manufacturing (inspection lot origin 13)

  • Plant maintenance (inspection lot origin 14)

If you process deliveries for the above-referenced inspection lot origins, the suitability of a material or batch with respect to the multiple specifications should have already been determined.

When you process an inspection plan using the transactions Create Inspection Lot , Change Inspection Lot or Display Inspection Lot , you cannot display the multiple specification data that was copied from the inspection plan. However, once the system has assigned an inspection plan to the inspection lot, you can branch from the inspection lot to the inspection plan to display the various specifications.
