 Creation of Master Data

Purpose

This process describes how to create a piece of test equipment for the calibration inspection and link with a measuring point/counter.

Prerequisites

  • A piece of equipment can only be created as a piece of test equipment if the corresponding equipment category is defined in Customizing.

  • A measuring point/counter can only be created if the corresponding measuring point category is defined in Customizing.

  • If you want to update measurement documents automatically as a follow-up action for the inspection lot, the measuring point/counter characteristic must have been created with reference to a class characteristic from the classification system.

Process Flow

  1. You create test equipment as equipment initially in test equipment management. You can make all the necessary entries in the equipment master record.

  2. You create a measuring point/counter with the required characteristic for the test equipment. You can either do this immediately in the equipment master record or by using test equipment management.

Result

You have created a piece of equipment as test equipment that you include in a maintenance plan in the next step of the calibration inspection, and then create a general maintenance task list. However, you can also create a maintenance task list for the equipment used as test equipment and subsequently assign this to the maintenance plan.
