Process Flow for Change Access Data for Internet User

Purpose

You can integrate one or more variants of the Internet Application Component Change Access Data for Internet User in your company's homepage. You can name the function Access Password or Online Account for the subscription or advertising service in order to hide the technical background of the Internet user from the customer.

Depending on the Customizing settings and design, a variant of the application component can perform various functions. The different variants allow the customer to manage their Internet user themselves (for example, change the password, change the e-mail address, obtain a new password if they have forgotten the old one).

Process Flow

The process flow depends on the variant and the function it serves.

Example – change password:

The customer accesses the application Change password for Internet user/online account on the publisher’s website. The URL of the call contains the key that references the Customizing settings for a variant and therefore defines the behavior of the application.

The application displays a form in which the customer can enter their customer number or user name, the old password and a new password which they have to repeat.

If the customer enters their old password correctly, the password is changed and the change is confirmed.

Example – password forgotten:

The customer wants to access password-protected data but has forgotten the password. They call the application for generating a new password on the publisher’s website. The URL of the call contains the key that references the Customizing settings for a variant and therefore defines the behavior of the application.

The customer enters their customer number and e-mail address on the form that is displayed. These entries are checked.

If the e-mail address is recorded for the customer, a new password generated by the system is sent to this address. If there is no e-mail address in the system or a different address exists, the application displays additional fields allowing the customer to log on, for example the order number or the telephone number. If logon is successful, the e-mail address entered is recorded as the customer’s new e-mail address and the customer is sent a new password.

Result

The customer was able to change their access data themselves or obtain a new password for access.
