  Creation of a Question

Purpose

You use this process to create a new question and the possible responses.

Prerequisites

You have authorization to create questions.

Process Flow

You want to create a question for the Evaluable Information category

  1. You choose the Question Maintenance function on the Recruiter’s start page.

The system branches to Question Maintenance and the Question Library appears, displaying all questions created thus far that match your selection criteria.

  2. You select the tab page of the Questionnaire Group in which you want to create a question.

  3. You choose Create .

    Note Note

Alternatively, you can copy an existing question using the Copy function, modify it as required, and save it.

    End of the note.
  4. The system opens the wizard for creating a question.

  5. You create the question text in the languages that you want to use.

  6. You select a response type.

Depending on the response type you select, you can make additional specifications:

    • Predefined Scale

You assign one of the predefined scales with possible responses.

    • Input Field or Input Area

A free text field or area is available for the user’s response.

    • Single or Multiple Selection

You search for existing responses or create new responses and assign these responses to the question. You determine the sequence of the responses.

      Note Note

Check whether the texts of the responses exist in all languages that are relevant for the question. If necessary, add the texts in the missing languages.

      End of the note.
  7. You change the status of the question to Released and save your entries.

The question is added to the question library and is available for use in questionnaires in the Evaluable Information category.

    Note Note

You can also create questions in the Questionnaire Maintenance view. The process is exactly the same as the one outlined here. You assign the questions directly to the questionnaire when you do so.

    End of the note.
  8. You want to create a question for the Equal Employment Information category

  9. You choose the Question Maintenance Equal Opportunities Information (EEO) function on the Recruiter’s start page.

The system branches to Question Maintenance and the Question Library appears, displaying all questions created thus far that match your selection criteria.

  10. You select the tab page of the Question Group in which you want to create a question.

  11. You choose the Create function.

    Note Note

Alternatively, you can copy an existing question using the Copy function, modify it as required, and save it.

    End of the note.
  12. The system opens the wizard for creating a question.

  13. You create the question text in the languages that you want to use.

  14. You select a response type.

Depending on the response type you select, you can make additional specifications:

    • Predefined Scale : You assign one of the predefined scales with possible responses.

    • Input Field or Input Area : A free text field or area is available for the user’s response.

    • Single or Multiple Selection : In this case, you can select a reporting area . You must select a reporting range in order to be able to determine one field out of a set of fields and the question is assigned to this field. This field, in turn, specifies the possible responses. You predefine the possible responses in Customizing.

      Note Note

The procedure described here of mapping a question to a field must be carried out to enable EEO reporting for these questions. Reporting cannot be performed for questions with no mapping procedure.

      End of the note.

You can, of course, create questions in the Evaluable Information category that have the response type Single or Multiple Selection without a mapping procedure. In this case, the question is not included in Reporting.

  15. You change the status of the question to Released and save your entries.

The question is added to the question library and is available for use in questionnaires in the Equal Employment Information category.

Result

You have created a new question and stored it in the question library. Recruiters that are authorized to do so can access the question and assign it to a questionnaire using the Creating a Questionnaire process.

If necessary, you can move the question into another question group.
