You can use the delivery-related trading unit change(DTUC) to change the trading unitof a batch in accordance with the sales order configuration while an outbound delivery is being processed. You can also use it to adjust the characteristic values to suit the customer’s requirements.
You can use this function for sales orders and stock transfer orders with delivery via shipping in the outbound delivery.
Note
DTUC does not support storage locations that require handling units.
In the master data of the classification system, you have created a reference class in which you have entered all characteristics that are DTUC-relevant for checking during delivery creation.
You have maintained and activated this reference class for each shipping point in Customizing for
Logistics Execution,
by choosing
.
You have classified the material in a batch class.
You have configured the sales order item but not entered a batch in the sales order item.
You can also specify the movement types to be used for the various postings in DTUC in Customizing for
Logistics Execution,
by choosing
.
You use the SAP standard functions to create the outbound delivery and determine the batch. If you have activated the DTUC check for the shipping point in Customizing for
Delivery-Related Trading Unit Change
, the system compares the characteristics of the sales order configuration that are relevant for a trading unit change with the characteristic values of the assigned batch for each batch split item.
Note
The comparison between the characteristics of the configuration and the assigned batch takes place in the reference class (see “Prerequisites”). You can influence the characteristics of the reference class using a Business Add-In (BAdI).
The system assigns the DTUC status
A (DTUC-relevant) to a
ll batch split items that have deviating characteristic values
.
Caution
In the standard system, the batch split items are
not
locked for subsequent processing, such as packing or picking. You can lock them using an additional ABAP development without modifications in Customizing. For the cable industry, an example source text has been created for this purpose in SAP Note
834704
.
After all the relevant DTUC batch split items are confirmed, the overall status of the delivery is set to
C
(
DTUC processing completed
) on the
Status Overview
tab page.
If you have entered the characteristics for minus or plus tolerances in variant configuration, the system does not issue any DTUC status. In this case, the system compares if the batch split quantity lies within the tolerance threshold. If it does, cutting is not necessary and underdelivery and overdelivery are permitted. In Customizing for
Basic Settings for SAP for Mill Products
, under
Assign Characteristics for SAP for Mill Products
, you must enter the identifiers
204
and
205
with the characteristic names SAP_MILLCA_TOL_PLUS und SAP_MILLCA_TOL_MINUS to enable the system to perform the comparison.
Note
In the outbound delivery, a batch already specified in the sales order is automatically transferred to the main item because the system assumes that the specified batch matches the customer requirement exactly. In this case, the system does not check the characteristic values.
In the outbound delivery, you can display the DTUC-relevant deviations for all highlighted batch split items by choosing
with the quick info text
Display characters for DTUC
on the
Batch Split
tab page. The system compares the requirements of the sales order configuration or stock transfer order with the characteristic values of the batch classification.
On the
Batch Split
tab page on the item details screen for the outbound delivery, you can influence status processing by setting the DTUC
(DTUC Complete) indicator. This allows you to decide whether to accept the suggested batch unchanged, despite the deviating characteristic values, for each batch split item.
If you set this indicator manually, the system ignores the relevant batch split item in the DTUC. The system automatically sets this indicator after a DTUC.
You can perform all required activities in DTUC, such as changing the characteristic values, distributing the quantity of the issuing batch to new batches, and processing remaining quantities. The system transfers the DTUC-relevant characteristics from the configuration of the sales order or the stock transport order to the classification of the
receiving item
and documents all changes in the inventory management material document, which the system generates to enable the tracing of batches.
When you make the DTUC, the system selects those receiving items for which the
DTUC
indicator (
DTUC item is relevant for outbound delivery) is set.
The system automatically changes the batch split item in the outbound delivery when the goods movement is posted
.
The system updates the changed items in accordance with the data entered. When the system has created new batches, it deletes the
issuing items
(the current batch split items) and creates the
receiving items (
the new items).
Additionally, the system sets the
DTUC (DTUC Complete)
indicator for those batch split items that the DTUC has changed or created on the
Batch Split
tab page of the item detail screen for the delivery. This means that the system automatically assigns DTUC status
C to the
delivery item on the
Status Overview
tab page
.
When DTUC processing is complete for all delivery items
,
the system sets the DTUC status to
C
in the overall delivery status. When you have implemented the routines in SAP Note
834704
, the system releases the outbound delivery for subsequent processing, such as posting picking and goods issue.
Note
SAP Note
834704
describes the consequences that can arise if you do not implement the routines.
When the last DTUC-relevant batch split item in the outbound delivery is confirmed, the system starts the automatic packing with HUM function.
Caution
There is no separate reversal function for delivery-related trading unit change. You must make reversals manually using material management functions such as transfer posting, inward and outward posting, or by making batch changes. You must also adjust the batch split items and check the characteristic values in the batch classification.
Caution
You can only remove whole units from a multiple-unit batch.
