A reel is a material used as a carrier for a cable.

Use

Reels facilitate the handling of cables.

Structure

Reels are mapped by reel type. In application terms, the reel type corresponds to the material number of the reel. Some reel types can be managed with a reduced material master ( Basic Data 1 and 2 views ) , for example, coils or containers (see Reel Master Data for the Reel Calculation ). The reel type coil does not require a physical carrier material.

Reel categoriesgroup reel types that have the same structure or use. The reel types in a particular reel category differ in terms of dimensions and capacity.

Integration

You enter the reel data (for example, reel category, type, and number) as characteristics in the characteristic value assignment screen of each application (for example, sales order, purchase order, production order, or goods receipt).
