You can import users, groups, and roles from external systems to the user management engine (UME) using the import function. First you must export user, group, or role data from the source system into a plain text file. Then you must convert the text file into a format supported by the import function. You can then import the file.
You cannot import users, groups, and roles simultaneously in one import run.
The import function is integrated in identity management.
· If you have a portal, choose User Administration → Import.
· For all others, start identity management and choose Import.
For more information, see identity management.
You have two options for importing users, groups and roles:
· Paste the content of a data file in the text area.
· Upload user, group, or role data from a file.
You cannot import a file that is larger than 1MB.
In both cases, the data must use Standard Format.
Select Overwrite Existing Data if you wish to overwrite the data for any existing users, groups, or roles.
The user, group, or role ID is used to uniquely identify the records in the import data and to match the imported user data with any existing users, groups, or roles. If you select Overwrite Existing Data, the system overwrites all existing field values for users, groups, or roles and with field values from the import data. The system does not keep a record of previous values.
After you import the data by choosing Upload, the import log appears. This log indicates the result of the import at the line item level, and includes any corresponding warnings. Click the particular log entries for more details. The table below lists the possible results:
