Bank Master Data and Bank Account Numbers

Use

In Finnish business practice, bank numbersare not typically used, because the bank number forms part of every bank account number, so you can tell from a bank account number itself which bank an account is at. However, we still recommend that you use bank numbers in the system, as they are required in various transactions, for example, in the electronic bank statement, or for companies located abroad that need your bank details and have to give a bank number.

Finnish bank account numbers are 15 characters long. They comprise a six-digit code that denotes the bank, a hyphen (-), and an account number of up to eight digits, for example, 123456-785.
