Purpose

SAP Mining supports mining-specific processes and provides you with key information that enables you to run your mining business effectively and profitably. SAP Mining integrates production, commercial, and support processes to enable enterprise-wide planning, execution, and reporting.

SAP Mining consists of several technical components. One of these components is IS-Mine. The information in this document covers only the functions delivered with the IS-Mine component. The functions and tools delivered with IS-Mine are designed to handle the following key business processes in the mining industry:

Mining and primary distribution

·        Maintain and optimize all mining processes

·        Collect data on all mining processes

Secondary processing

·        Plan long- and short-term production objectives

·        Manage cost of entire supply chain

·        Manage distribution processes

Integration

The SAP Mining solution delivers functions designed to cover mining business processes in by integrating the following:

·        IS-Mine component

·        SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC)

·        SAP solutions, such as SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer (SAP APO)

As the diagram below shows, the IS-Mine component requires SAP ECC.

Features

The IS-Mine component is based on the IS-Oil component, thereby sharing the same functionality with enhancements included where they are required for the mining industry. Therefore, the same SAP Library documentation is delivered for both the component IS-Oil and IS-Mine.
