Planning Calendar
Planning calendars define flexible period lengths for material requirements planning at plant level.
·
Using the planning
calendar, you can define flexible periods for a period lot-sizing procedure in
master production scheduling and in MRP. The system groups together the
purchase order proposals, which fall within the period defined in the planning
calendar, to form a lot. You allocate this special lot-sizing procedure to the
material in the material master together with the planning calendar (see
Periodic
Lot-Sizing Procedure).
·
You can also use
the periods in the planning calendar for the period totals display
in the stock/requirements list. If a planning calendar is valid for a
particular material or if a planning calendar is entered at plant level in
Customizing, the receipts and issues in the period totals display can also be
grouped together according to the periods of the planning calendar( see
Display of Period
Totals).
· Finally, you can also use it to define flexible splitting periods for demand management. The total planned independent requirements quantity for a certain period (for example, for one year) is then divided up according to the period defaults in the planning calendar.
