Object documentation Self-Monitoring of the Alert Monitor Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Definition

The SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors monitor set contains the CCMS Selfmonitoring monitor, which displays the status of the monitoring architecture and of the Alert Monitor. The monitor displays both instance-specific data and system-wide data.

When you check your system landscape, you should always check this monitor. In addition to other monitoring functions, it shows whether the Alert Monitor was able to perform the following actions:

·        Start the data collection methods for which it is responsible

·        Assign the shared memory and access to it; the monitoring segment of the shared memory contains the attributes and alerts for the associated instance

·        Set up the RFC communication connections to remote systems and components

Individual alert monitor methods (data collection methods and auto-reaction methods) can also display problems and statuses in this monitor. The monitor also shows whether a reorganization of the list of completed alerts is recommended, to reduce the storage area required for completed alerts in the database.
