Function documentation Testing the Correct Sending of SNMP Traps with rectraps Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Use the test tool rectraps to test whether SNMP traps were correctly sent. You can receive SNMP traps with this program.

Prerequisites

You must have copied the required data to the host on which you want to receive the SNMP traps. To do this, follow the procedure below:

       1.      Use your SAP Service Marketplace ID to log on to the Software Catalog of the SAP Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com/swdc).

       2.      In the navigation bar, choose Download ® Support Packages and Patches ® Entry by Application Group ® SAP NetWeaver ® SAP NETWEAVER ® SAP NETWEAVER 04 ® Entry by Component ® AS ABAP ® SAP KERNEL 6.40 32/64-BIT ® <operating system> ® Database Independent.

       3.      Download the archive SNMPLIB_<Version>.SAR.

       4.      Decompress the archive with the command sapcar –xvf SNMPLIB_<Version>.SAR.

       5.      Copy all data and directories from the for_recipientdirectory of SNMPLIB to any directory on the receiving host.

Activities

Call the program on the host that is to receive the SNMP traps as follows:

rectraps <configuration file>.

In the configuration file you define, for example, the port at which the program is to listen. There is a template called rectrapc.cfg with default values in the for_recipient directory. For more information about the configuration file, see Adjusting the Configuration File for Receiving SNMP Traps.
