Procedure documentation Returning a Payment Item Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You have the option of returning payment items already posted to customer accounts or CpD (suspense) accounts that you do not want accepted (return debit, return check, (only applies for banks)).

Prerequisites

Only recipient items can be returned.

Before being able to return a payment item, you must first have predefined return reasons for the transaction type of the item in Customizing.

Procedure

...

       1.      Choose Account Management ® Payment Item ® Edit (Special) ® Return and make a selection.

       2.      You receive an overview of all items for which returning is possible.

Double clicking on an item or a position or detail brings you to the detailed display of the payment item. Here choose Return.

       3.      Specify the medium, payment method and value date for the return and choose one of the pre-defined return reasons.

Result

The system generates and updates a payment order with the ordering party and recipient of the return. Any existing guaranteed amount (for check returns) is taken into consideration. If and how notification of the business partners involved is supported, depends on your Customizing (in the Implementation Guide (IMG). Choose Account Management ® Returns).

If you have activated the (amount-dependent) principle of dual control for the processing of payment items, the payment item can initially be parked with the Returned Dual Control status. This must then be released by another user with appropriate authorization.

To do this, choose Account Management ® Payment Item ® Release. The system lists all the items that have not yet been released. Go to the detail view of a payment item and choose Release.
