Purpose

Traditionally, the core product in banking is the current account (demand deposit account). To enable flexible processing for private and corporate customers, SAP offers the Bank Customer Accounts (BCA) system. This current account system concentrates on the monitoring of funds payable and receivable between banks and their customers. All business processes, from account management to balancing tasks, that arise in connection with the processing of current accounts are supported. The turnovers and balances of the current accounts are integrated and summarized before being transferred to SAP Financial Accounting (FI). This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Implementation Considerations

To use the functions of the Bank Customer Accounts (BCA), you need to enter the required system settings in the Implementation Guide (IMG) by choosing SAP Banking ® Bank Customer Accounts.

Integration

The current account system Bank Customer Accounts (BCA) is implemented as an open system that can react flexibly to customer-specific requirements by the definition of Business Transaction Events. Components of other manufacturers can be connected to the system using standardized, open online interfaces (RFC interfaces). This separation ensures the free scalability of the system, and the current account system can also be implemented in a system other than the FI general ledger.

You can extend the current account system without modifications. The adaptable design for the business partner and account master data is based on the SAP master data tool. The implementation of the functions is ‘encapsulated’, meaning that displaying, checking and saving data is separate.

Bank Customer Accounts (BCA) allows customer and bank definitions of interfaces and screen sequences. You can add fields to the system that are not affected by release changes, without having to make program modifications.

Note Note on the documentation:

Parts of the current account system Bank Customer Accounts (BCA) are used by SAP In-House Cash (IHC). This also affects this documentation. A note has been added to the documentation when functions are only partially used by In-House Cash: (only applies for banks). If, however, statements apply only to SAP In-House Cash, the following note applies: (only for the In-House Cash center).

Scope of Functions

Bank Customer Accounts (BCA) provides you with a system for operational banking that enables you to manage not only customer accounts, but also vostro and nostro accounts. You can flexibly and quickly design the products based on the adaptable conditions model and by activating and deactivating transactions and functions. You can connect the payment transactions system using standardized, open interfaces.

Additionally, the system takes future technological developments into account, such as the use of the Internet in the banks’ mixed distribution channels. The current account system forms the basis for the extension of the solution to a complete, operational SAP AG bank application.
