Function documentation Configuration of a Planning Scenario Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

When configuring a planning scenario, you can define as many steps and substeps as required and also their design. For each planning scenario you define at least one planning instance. You can also define a context area in which, for example, information about a substep is displayed. Under Express Planning, you can find information about how the Express Planning  iView represents your settings. For more information about configuring a planning scenario, see the documentation for the IMG activity.

Features

You configure a planning scenario together with its steps and substeps, the planning instances and context area in Customizing under Cross-Application Components ® Express Planning ® Define Planning Scenario (transaction EXP_CUST). Using the planning scenario Express Planning: Cost Center Planning (0_CC_EXP) delivered as a basis, you can understand the configuration options and their effect on the planning interface (see Example Scenario for Cost Center Planning).

Configuration of a Planning Step

You specify for a planning step whether the step (with its substeps) is relevant for approval or status relevant. For a step that is status relevant, you also define whether the status In process is to be set automatically. The effects of these settings are described under Status Concept. Whether a step is mandatory of optional can be determined from the subordinate substeps. Technically, every step has at least one substep. Where there is only one substep, it is not displayed in the Express Planning iView. The system transfers the properties of the substep for the step.

Configuration of a Substep

You make the basic settings at the substep level, as you assign the Planning Service here, and make the planning service settings.

You specify among other things which object type (for example, cost center) the planner is to process with the planning service. You can also specify whether the planner can process several objects simultaneously (see Object Selection). This setting is only relevant if the planning service supports multiple selection.

For every substep, you have to specify whether processing is mandatory or optional.

The remaining settings depend upon which planning service you have assigned to the substep. For information on which settings are available, see the documentation for the relevant planning service.

Configuration of a Planning Instance

You can use the configuration of a scenario for several planning rounds by using planning instances. To do this, you create a planning instance for a planning scenario, in which you define the fiscal year and two plan versions (a provisional and a final) for which the planning scenario is to be used.

In the planning instance, you also make settings for the status overview in the various views.

Configuration of the Context Area

In the context area, you can provide the planner with information about a step or substep. You use various different services for this, for example, the Document Service or the URL Service. To group the information, create sections. Create section elements in the sections, which you assign to the steps and substeps for display.
