KMThe mySAP ERP DMS Connector for Knowledge Management is an e-business solution that enables you to find documents efficiently in the document-management repositories of mySAP ERP and Knowledge Management.

DMS:
Document management (mySAP ERP)
SAP application component: CA-DMS
KM:
Knowledge Management in the Enterprise Portal
SAP application component: EP-PKM
The following overview describes the basic functions of the two components.
Component |
Function |
Knowledge Management |
Knowledge Management is integrated in the SAP Enterprise Portal with the components Content Management, Retrieval and Classification, and Collaboration. The Repository Manager, together with its submanagers, controls the access of portal applications to the content of the repositories; for example, with the namespace manager, property manager, content manager, versioning manager, lock manager, and authorization manager. |
Document Management |
Document Management provides a wide range of processing functions to enable you to create and manage documents of your choice efficiently. It uses the Knowledge Provider (KPro) from the SAP Web Application Server as a media-neutral IT infrastructure for checking in any documents and document-type objects (such as programs). |
Information silos can only turned to advantage in production if the information is made available to the different decision-makers quickly and securely. Firstly, electronic search techniques reduce the amount of work if they search multiple storage systems in one go. To reduce unnecessary time spent on analyzing the documents, a clear presentation of the documents is required. It should be possible to integrate the information quickly into the processes.
The mySAP ERP DMS Connector for KM provides both internal and external users with up-to-date document information, for example, the contents of original application files (such as design drawings and contracts).
You must install the mySAP ERP DMS Connector for KM. This connector ensures that information is processed between Knowledge Management and Document Management. This allows you to find and analyze documents that you maintained in Document Management (CA-DMS) with the functions of Knowledge Management. Generic services are also provided, which enable you to integrate the documents into your business processes.

The current development status only provides functions for document management that read data from the repositories (read-only).
