Process documentation Printer Shared Among iSeries Systems (iSeries) Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

If you are working on an iSeries application server and want to use a printer connected to a different iSeries, you have to do one of the following:

·        Use the TCP/IP with an output queue of the connection type *IP. For more information, see Setting Up TCP/IP Output Oueues (iSeries).

Example

For example, let us assume that there is an SAP system running on an iSeries SAPAPPL. Print requests are to be passed from this system to another iSeries SAPDB, which is connected to a printer. Before this can be done, a TCP/IP connection must be established between the two iSeries machines.

·        Set up a network or an Advanced Program-to-Program Communication (APPC) connection between the two iSeries systems (SNA).

The process of setting up an SNA connection is described in the IBM documentation OS/400 Printer Device Programming (document number SC41-5713).
