Function documentation The IMG Structure Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

An IMG structure comprises structure nodes and IMG activities. Structure nodes structure the hierarchy levels, IMG activities have contents.

Example Example: IMG structure General settings

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

The Currencies node is a structure node. It is a container for several IMG activities, e.g. Check Currency Codes.

Use

Technically an IMG structure is an object comprising the following subobjects:

All objects, including the structure, are in the Structure link object catalog TADIR, in which all development objects are managed.

Each object is assigned to a package. The package controls translation and transport. Each package has an original system which should also contain the original of its objects.

IMG activity

You can make customizing settings in IMG activities. The IMG activity is linked to the transaction which makes and describes customizing settings.

An IMG activity is characterized by the following objects:

Documentation object

All structure nodes contain documentation. Documentation objects which describe structure nodes have the documentation class CHAP, those which describe an IMG activity, SIMG.

Attributes

Attributes characterize and specify an IMG activity. Structure nodes have no attributes. You can show attributes, e.g. Activity importance, in the IMG structure under Additional information.

You can create project views from attributes, in the Structure link Customizing project management.

Maintenance objects

You can go from an IMG activity to the customizing settings via the maintenance object. A maintenance object is defined by a customizing object, the object type, and the associated transaction.

You can also address software enhancements which were defined by the application development and programmed by the customer, via the maintenance object.
